WE WENT TO PETO - MAY 23, 2016

Divisons in Peto

Hello everyone! I hope you guys all had such a great week because I sure know I did! This week we worked really hard and saw a lot of miracles happen in the work of the Lord-like always!! Sometimes as missionaries we see miracles all day long that we just forget to recognize them, so this week I just tried to focus on seeing the miracles and the hand of God in my life every day, and it made my week so great!!! 

So this week we went to Peto.. you guys definitely have no idea what that is. Peto is what they call the hole of the mission. Basically it is super far away from Merida and there are no other missionaries close to you at all. So as Zone Leaders we need to do divisions with other missionaries like once a week to help them and see how they are doing etc etc. So on Thursday we were trying to see where the Lord needed us to go that week and decided Peto was the place! So we took the 2.5 hour bus ride there Thursday night and I can honestly agree, it really is the hole of the mission! So we arrived pretty late and tired at their house and they had ordered us a pizza to eat. It was honestly super awesome. (Photo below).

So Friday we were working in divisions with them. My companion was with Elder Saunooke, and I was with Elder Aguilar. Honestly it was such a great humbling learning experience. Because even though we went there to learn from them and help, they actually ended up helping US so much too. Definitely when we go into life always looking to learn something, life is just a lot better!! 

So this week we found 17 new investigators! It was so awesome honestly. We are just finding so many people and families that are ready to hear the gospel. 17 new investigators in 1 week is the most i have ever had in my mission. We are truly just trying to plant the seed in everyone we can and we just work with them to see how it grows! Just like Alma says in Alma 32.

Also last week we had an investigator go to church who just came out of the blue named Naomi and we have been teaching her this week and she is super awesome. The thing is that through her we found her younger sister Candi. I totally learned not to judge people by their cover. As missionaries we always observe and try to see their needs, but basically Candi was like any 15 year old girl but we thought she wouldn't be too interested. Turns out every week she goes to church alone to the Catholic church and she is totally searching for the truth and she is listening to us and accepting everything! And through her we found her friends and it is just so awesome how through one person we can find so many more if we just try a little bit more!

Also this week i just wanna put that it literally HAILED this week. You should have seen the way the people reacted here, they said they had never seen hail in their life. Our house was being filled with water from it coming under the door and we spent the night pushing water out of the house, it reminded me of Texas haha. 

I just want to talk about a small thing. I love how the atonement has so many words to describe it but one of my favorite words to describe it is CONTINUOUS. I know that we can always keep repenting. Sometimes we feel like God isn't patient with us and our trials but we need to understand that He is the perfect example of long suffering because he doesn't have a concept of time. He is always ready to take us back and we are continuously able to repent every day and I am so grateful for His love for us. I know this church is true!!!
