Hey y´all!! What a blessing it is to be able to write you guys today and tell me about my week. This week was just a ton of travel. On Tuesday morning we had to leave at 6am to go to Campeche for our zone conference. We learned about a new goal that the Mexico Area has which is 25 baptisms a week for each mission in all of Mexico. We learned a lot about what we can do to achieve it and honestly it is a really achievable goal. It was a nice experience to be on the other side of the zone conference for the first time in a year, instead of giving it. It was fun and I love being with all the sisters and elders from the zone. We then stayed in Campeche for the day and night to do divisions with the zone leaders. In the ward where the zone leaders are there are 6 missionaries so when we went to eat with them we were 8 missionaries eating in one house which was super fun and crazy. Lets just say 3 of the missionaries decided that it would be fun to eat a whole habanero chile pepper, and I am happy to say that I was NOT one of those three. Honestly it is so funny to watch people eat that habanero because it KILLS haha, and it is just a dumb idea to eat a whole one. About 1 hour later when I was walking with Elder Cano, he threw up from the pain all over the street. It was a fun experience. It was interesting because the zone leaders sent me to do divisions with another district leader to help him out apparently, but it was a good day. Campeche is so beautiful and a much nicer and cleaner city than Merida, and especially than Calkini haha. There are a ton of huge hills and honestly they are so hard to walk up but its so worth it because when you get to the top of it you can see the ocean. Today in my monthly interview I gave the hint to president that I would like to finish my mission there, since I have never had an area there before.
This week was what they call "Semana Santa" which was all of the catholics celebrating. Basically it is funny because for this past week, everyone was all of a sudden a die hard catholic. It is the one week where everyone decides to go to church. So it made the work a little harder this week. Something that I learned a lot of is that so many people in the world focus on the fact that Jesus died. Here in Calkini they even did a Crucifixion fake show in the center of town on Friday, and it was a huge deal apparently. But what I love so much is that the most important part about Easter and everything we preach isn't that Jesus Christ died, it is that He was raised from the dead and that He LIVES! I know that thanks to this, we can all overcome anything and everything.
Like I said this week was a week of travel. On Saturday we went to Hecelchakan to help the sisters out with something and then yesterday we went to Halacho for a super awesome activity we had. It was a "Face to Face" with President and Hermana Ruiz. A ton of people went, investigators, less actives, etc and we had a ton of success. The work is going so well here. We had 5 investigators at church and we are really trying to help Denisse and Jose to be baptized. Yesterday was Easter and honestly no one makes a huge deal about it here, actually they didn't even say one word about it in church but in my heart i was thinking a lot about the
Resurrection and how blessed we are in this life. I love you guys so much and I hope you have a great week!!
